Casino kicks out smelly poker player

An overweight, angry gambler is kicking up a stink after being thrown out of a casino for his bad body odour.

Michael Wax admits he brought a bad smell to the Atlantic City casino where he spent 17 hours playing poker - but claimed he did not have enough time to clean up.

The 200kg punter was eventually asked to leave after complaints by other gamblers.

$40,000 in poker earnings sought from Seward VFD

The state attorney general wants a rural Westmoreland County fire department to surrender more than $40,000 it raised from poker tournaments it held last year as fundraisers.

The tournaments were organized by Greensburg attorney Larry Burns, who faces misdemeanor gambling charges for allegedly running Texas Hold ‘Em tournaments in Seward.

A petition was filed this week in Cambria County seeking $40,814 the department earned from gambling.

Toronto police raid four illegal poker clubs

If police raids are any indication the poker scene is still booming in Canada.

Police raided four gambling dens in Toronto and Pickering, according to a story with the Toronto Sun. Approximately 40 police officers raided the alleged illegal gambling dens on Dufferin St., Chesswood Dr., Brock Rd. and Steeles Ave.

A total of 47 people are now facing charges related to the busts. Nine are charged with keeping a common gaming house while 36 people including two minors are being charged with being found in a common gaming house.

Poker pro Binger knows when to fold ’em

At the 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event, Michael Binger burst onto the poker scene with a third-place finish that earned him more than $4.1 million.

In 2007, Binger proved he was no fluke by cashing eight times, tying the WSOP record for cashes in a single year. (He shared the record with poker pros Humberto Brenes, Chad Brown and Phil Hellmuth Jr., but the mark was broken at the 2008 WSOP by Nikolay Evdakov with 10 cashes.)

This year, Binger continues to impress the poker world. Through July, he has captured two tournament titles, made eight final tables and is currently ranked in the top five in all the major Player of the Year standings.
