The first ever poker-themed musical will make its world debut 4 and 5 July at the Masquerade Theatre in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. All In: The Poker Musical will also do a special preview concert 3 July, the first day of the World Series of Poker Main Event, for media and poker VIPs to get a glimpse of the new show.
“I started realising that not only is poker for the masses, but you can always find the same kind of people playing,” Molyneux said. “Somebody comes to the table, in five minutes suddenly you know who they are. There’s always the bully kind of guy who likes to push people around the table, the compulsive personality that has to win everything, the soft, quiet person who ‘reads’ the table…I’m thinking, wow, this is the microcosm of America. Right here at this one table you have a taste of about everything.”

Four more events saw action on Wednesday at the 2008 World Series of Poker, including Event #45, the much-anticipated $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. World Championship, which drew the game’s biggest players and a deep crowd of spectators to the Amazon Room. On the opposite side of the hall a retired police detective claimed the day’s only bracelet, early in the day.
That bracelet was for the title in Event #42, the $1,000 Seniors No-Limit World Championship, where the final nine players, the survivors from an initial field of more than 2,200 two days prior, fought for the jewelry.

John Pahn has been hot at this year’s World Series of Poker thus far. The Vietnamese-American professional poker player based in Long Beach, California has managed to win his second bracelet.
“Going into a World Series, I don’t expect to win a bracelet, but it would be nice to win one. The first(bracelet), I didn’t really care that much. But(winning) the second one is so difficult,” he said.
Often referred to as the bridesmaid, never the bride, John Phan quieted his critics with a win in last week’s $3,000 No-Limit Hold’em tournament, Julio Rodriguez of CardPlayer.com wrote. At the 2008 WSOP in late June, he may have quieted them for good by taking down the $2,500 Deuce-to-Seven Triple Draw Low Ball event. Phan overcame a major chip deficit three-handed, as well as a verbal fight from Gioi Luong to take his second career bracelet in event no. 40.

Some players are so afraid of getting bluffed out of a pot that they will call you on every street. Against these calling stations, you will have to show down the best hand.
So, if you’re going to pick a spot to bluff, you need to pick an opponent who is capable of laying down a hand, as top pro Andrew Black did at the $15,000-buy-in Doyle Brunson World Poker Classic at Las Vegas’ Bellagio in 2007.

Titan Poker, the largest poker room on the iPoker Network, has awarded player Douglas Simmons from the United Kingdom his largest poker win ever. By winning five straight $5 + $1 Maui “Jackpot Sit ‘N Go” tournaments, Douglas was able to also capture the special $36,000 Maui Jackpot Prize.
Speaking shortly after the tournament, Douglas said: “It’s great to know that after playing poker for a short time that I have been able to win 5 Maui “Sit ‘N Go’s” in a row to scoop the jackpot.”
Offering advice to poker players, he says that “the jackpot target is achievable if you put your mind to it and you’re in luck with the cards dealt.”
